What’s the best price to sell my book at?

Whilst this is a great question, it is important to know what your strategy is first and foremost. Knowing your ideal audience is also key to the pricing of your books.

If you are looking to sell vast quantities of your book through discount book warehouses, going high-volume sales, low profit margins, then the price to select is going to be very different from an exclusive audience who are prepared to pay high prices for the quality and exclusivity.

You then have to look at the quality of the paper, the cloth used in hardback books, the finish, and then the country of sale. Pricing a book isn’t a simply price comparison on Amazon. The optimal price to sell your book depends on a multitude of factors including genre, book length, and perceived value.

Conducting market research and testing different price points can help you determine the best price for your book.

Launch prices, event prices and special occasions such as ‘International Day of chosen subject’ may also be factors in how you price your book.

As you can see, there is so much to think about and everything always returns to the strategy you are choosing to reach your chosen audience.
