The Scotland Saga is a gripping true crime memoir that begins with something remarkably ordinary: a wild camping trip through Scotland to prepare my two sons for their Duke of Edinburgh Award. What could possibly go wrong? Quite a lot, as it turns out.
What begins as a family adventure leads to false allegations, three criminal charges and the growing realisation that I’m being stitched up. Then I make the somewhat questionable decision to return to Scotland, where another three false criminal charges follow.
Across Crossing The Line and Mothers Like You, I examine the evidence, expose the inconsistencies and challenge the official narratives behind six criminal charges and two court cases, asking what happens when the woman the system is investigating starts investigating the system itself.
Crossing The Line: When Adventure, Motherhood and The Justice System Collide
It was supposed to be a wild camping adventure through Scotland, giving my two sons some real-world experience ahead of their Duke of Edinburgh Award. Instead, around fifteen minutes and one parenting decision later, I found myself facing three false criminal charges and having my motherhood, judgement and character picked apart by people who knew almost nothing about me. Crossing The Line follows my first journey through the Scottish justice system as I begin examining the evidence, questioning the inconsistencies and wondering how on earth an adventure with my boys turned into a criminal prosecution.

You might imagine that after everything that happened in Crossing The Line, I’d never set foot on the West Coast of Scotland again. You’d be wrong. When I return, another confrontation leads to three more false criminal charges, except this time the system isn’t dealing with the same woman. I know how to research, interrogate evidence and spot the things that don’t add up, and the deeper I dig, the more troubling the questions become about racism, policing, institutional power and what happens when challenging the official narrative makes you the problem.
