How much will I get paid in royalties per book?

Royalty rates will vary widely depending on factors such as the book format purchased by your readers, the various sales channels, contractual terms, and your publisher.

Authors published by the Big4 will typically receive a payment of around $5000-$15000 USD for the rights to the manuscript. Once the publisher has made that money back, the contract terms agreed to will then depend on how much the author receives. This is normally a small royalty fee of around 5-10% of profit from sales made.

Should you work with a boutique publisher like DBI Publishing, you will keep all your royalties, and you will also retain the rights to your manuscript. Why? Because we make our money on the publishing and coaching services we provide our clients. Our goal is to make becoming an author a joy, and to help the author take control of their own journey and success.

Investing in the coaching, or the 7 Week Author Course, means that you, the writer and soon to be author, are equipped with the skills and know-how to succeed on your own terms.

When you self-publish or use a boutique publisher such as DBI, you get the option to purchase author copies of your book directly allowing you can earn a larger percentage of the profits from the sale of your book(s).
